AS1670 is the Australian Standard that helps Fire Certifiers design a Fire Detection System for people’s safety. Once the design is completed along with installation and commissioning for the building, AS1851 takes over as the maintenance standard for the system.

FCF Fire Extinguishers

We inspect, maintain and install Fire Extinguishers to AS2444 requirements

Our Certified Service Technician can also able to help with AS1851, which is the Australian Standard for Fire Equipment servicing intervals.

Buildings should have an adequate number of fire extinguishers, with reliable escape routes should certain exits get blocked. All Fire Extinguishers should be visible and in a highly accessible location that has no obstructions.

Most workplaces use Dry Powder Fire Extinguishers, CO2 Fire Extinguishers, Water Fire Extinguishers and Foam Fire Extinguishers. The 4.5kg ABE High Performance Fire Extinguisher from FCF to go the extra distance.

FCF Fire Sprinklers and Hose Reels

Large buildings needs a fire hose reel and sometimes sprinkler systems too. They provide a controlled amount of water in critical locations, which help people escape a building in an event of a fire.

Fire reels are normally mounted on a wall or in a cabinet, and sprinklers above critical rooms. Appropriate signage has to also be installed to indicate their location(s).

To comply with Australian Standards, all fire protection equipment require regular detailed checks by a fire professional.

FCF Fire Hose Reels

We sell and fit Fire Hose Reels

Most large buildings needs a fire hose reel. They provide a controlled amount of water in critical locations to help people escape a building in an event of a fire. They would normally be mounted on a wall or in a cabinet with appropriate signage to indicate their location(s).

It’s manually operated by opening the valve. The reels range from 18 to 36 metres in length with 13mm, 19mm or 25mm diameter hose.

To comply with Australian Standards, all hoses require regular detailed checks by a fire professional.

FCF Sprinklers

Fire sprinkler systems can be a good invested to protect your business or home from fire. There are different types of systems, but they all should be up to Australian Standards AS 2118.

These systems are typically activated by an automatic trigger such as an increase in temperature or a detection from a smoke sensor. Over 96% of fires have been controlled in buildings which had fire sprinkler systems installed.

All sprinkler systems should meet basic requirements such as a reliable supply of water, working control valves, non-corroded pips and sprinkler heads.

FCF Evacuation Diagrams

Its mandatory for all Australian workplaces to have a fire evacuation diagram. It provides emergency and evacuation information for occupants and visitors.

It should clearly detail exit routes from you current location and assembly areas to comply with Australian Standard 3745-2010. The layout should include doors, walls, and often external elements with a compass. Can also include the location of fire equipment such as Fire extinguishers and first aid kits.

Evac diagrams should be displayed on something at least the size of A4 or bigger, between 1200 and 1600mm above the floor where occupants/visitors are able to view them.

FCF Fire Doors

Fire Doors are designed to reduce fire spreading between different compartments within a building.

The door and the frame should be air tight and made from fire-resistant materials. They are not always non-combustible, but they are rated by the number of hours they can resist a fire.

Its important that fire doors are fitted correctly and checked regularly for any gaps.

When you need to deliver large quantities of water, you need a fire hydrant, and there are different types for different purposes.

Australian building code requires that any building over 500 square meters must contain a Fire Hydrant, and they should only be used by trained officers from the fire brigade.

They commonly consist of two pieces, one above ground and the other below ground, and like other Fire Protection Equipment, fire hydrants need regular maintenance and inspection.

FCF Smoke Alarms

We install and test Smoke Alarms to Australian Standard AS3786

Smoke alarms should be tested every 6 months to make sure they function at a critical lifesaving moment when smoke is detected and to minimise any false alarms. They should be located in the correct places as to comply with Australian Standard AS3786.

Our models can be connected to the mains supply or with a battery, some lasting 10-years. Smoke Alarm technology is advancing quickly, and our smart smoke alarms are great value for money. FCF Electrical Test and Tag

We inspect electrical items to AS3760

Making sure your electrical items meet Workplace Health and Safety Regulations is important, and our qualified person can ensure that your business will remain compliant.

Normal testing of RCD’s is performed by two electricians at the switchboard. Even though you have an extra person on site, this test is faster and costs less to complete the legislative requirements than a standard Electrical Test and Tag.

As a member of Master Electricians Australia, FCF are always up to date with any changes and new technology that can even test your RCD’s remotely.

Some states have rules that override the AS3760 standard and allow for RCD testing to take the place of Electrical Test and Tag.

FCF Emergency Exit Lighting

We install and test all types of Emergency Exit Lighting to Australian Standard AS2293

The logbook records many details such as the original installation locations, test dates, adjustments, failed lights, repairs etc. The Fire Authorities, Fire Assessors, Insurance, and Inspectors use this logbook to ensure site compliance to State Legislation.

If the floor area of the building is over 300 square meters, it will most likely needs emergency lighting and exit signs. Any building that receive members of the general public are required to have emergency lighting.
